What's due, Find a time and Put it in Helm

How Dwell decides what is due

Every system and appliance you add has a kind (a furnace, a boiler, an air conditioner, a water heater, a dryer, the gutters, the smoke and CO alarms, and more). Each kind has its own upkeep: a furnace is serviced once a year before the heating season and its filter changed about every three months; gutters are cleared in autumn and spring; smoke and CO alarms are tested twice a year; a dryer vent is cleaned once a year.

For each task Dwell shows why it is due, in sentences:

    • The appliance — what it is, and how long ago it was installed when there is no service on record. • When it was last done — taken from the jobs you log in People & services, or "there's no record of this being done". • How often — the task's own interval. • The season — when a task is best done before the heating, cooling or wet season. Dwell knows the season from the hemisphere and climate band you chose for your home (choosing your country fills these in; a tropical climate has no spring or autumn timing), never from your address. • The warranty — when an appliance's warranty ends soon, Dwell says so: a service on record before it ends keeps a claim straightforward.

Tasks are shown overdue first, then due soon (within about six weeks), then upcoming. "Not now" hides a task until a date you pick. "Mark done" logs it as a job, which becomes its "last done".

    Find a time

Find a time offers up to three appointment windows — weekday mornings (8 to 12) and afternoons (1 to 5) — that avoid your calendar and the dates you are away. Dwell reads your calendar through Helm and your trips through Drift. When a trip starts before the task is due, the windows are before you leave. If your calendar is not connected, or could not be read, Dwell says so beside the windows instead of treating your time as free.

    Put it in Helm

Put it in Helm adds a to-do and a reminder in Helm for the task, with the window you chose. You can also ask Dwell to hold the time on your calendar. Nothing is booked: Dwell never contacts a contractor or arranges a visit. You make the call, or you hand the to-do to your own agent in Helm.

How far Dwell acts on its own

In Settings you choose one of three levels:

    • Suggest only — nothing is added to Helm or your calendar until you press a button. • Draft for me to approve (the default) — Dwell prepares the to-do, the reminder and the window as a draft you approve or change. Nothing lands in Helm until you approve it. • Act and tell me — when you open What's due, Dwell puts overdue and due-soon tasks in Helm itself and tells you it did.

Whatever you choose, Dwell never books, pays or contacts anyone.

  • What Dwell keeps about your home, and what it never keepsDwell

What Dwell keeps, and what it never keeps

    Your home's record

Dwell keeps your home (a name for it, the street address if you give one, the country and town or region you chose, the hemisphere and climate band you chose, the year it was built and your currency), its rooms, and the systems and appliances in it: kind, name, make, model, serial number, install date, room, warranty (who from, when it ends, what it covers), notes, and where each detail came from. It also keeps the contractors, services, utilities, subscriptions and insurers you add, the jobs they did, your household inventory, the settings you choose, and the errand answers Dwell gave your agent.

All of it is locked with your account's own key. A stolen copy of Dwell's records cannot say whose home it is.

Your street address is shown only to you. Dwell never sends it anywhere: the season comes from the region you chose.

    Photos

Photos of appliances, jobs and inventory items are kept as Helm attachments on your own account. A photo of a label is read only when you ask Dwell to read it, and nothing from it is kept until you press Keep.

    Your email

If you connected your email in Helm, "Look in my email" searches it for home paperwork: warranties, receipts, insurance renewals, utility bills and deliveries. Each message is read once, in memory, and never stored, logged or shown. What you see is a card saying what Dwell found, who sent it, the subject and the date — and you keep the facts you choose, one card at a time, or press Not this.

You also get a Dwell forwarding address. Anything you forward to it is read the same way and appears in Found for you.

    Downloading or deleting

Settings › Your data has "Download everything" (every Dwell record, readable) and "Delete everything" (every Dwell record, plus the reminders and photo holders Dwell made in Helm). Deleting your whole Memriq account also removes everything Dwell keeps.

    Plans

What each plan includes is read live from billing. The owner of Memriq is exempt from every plan gate. A feature your plan does not include says why it is locked and which plan opens it; nothing runs and nothing is charged.
